Video transcript:

Ok, so you may consider yourself to be a bit
of an introvert and maybe wondering whether
coaching would actually work for you.
You know, spending one-to-one time talking
to someone may not normally be your preferred
way of working or thinking things through.
I will say that a good coach will adjust
their style to what you need.
So, if I'm coaching someone who is
very introverted for example then I make sure
they have plenty of time to reflect
and think about the questions I'm asking.
Also some adjustments I might make as well is,
knowing if someone is very reflective
and like to think things through
in their own time,
is actually have shorter coaching
sessions and more regularly.
So rather than say have an hours
coaching session I might make it
half an hour every week rather than
say an hour every two weeks.
Just to make sure that that
reflection time is built in.
So coaching work can absolutely
and definitely work for everybody
but you may, as the coachee,
you may need to express that,
being an introvert, you really
appreciate and value time to
reflect and a good coach will make
sure that's part of your coaching session.
So introversion is nothing to do with
the effectiveness of coaching.
Your coach should adapt
their style to suit you.
Ok, let me know what you think
in the comments below.
It would be lovely to hear, as an introvert,
how you like the idea of coaching or mentoring.
How does it work for you?
And in particular what sort of steps
do you want a mentor or coach to take
to make coaching really work well for you.
